There are a great many reasons why Hawke’s Bay is the easy choice for staging your event.

Events pedigree

Think F.A.W.C! Food and Wine Classic, Mission Concert, Art Deco Festival, Horse of the Year and Hawke’s Bay International Marathon. We have the venues, people and expertise to stage seriously good events that people keep coming back for.

Climate

Hawke’s Bay is renowned for its Mediterranean climate with long hot summers and mild winters. Typical summer temperatures range from 20°C to 30°C. In winter, high temperatures are typically between 12°C to 17°C with annual sunshine hours averaging about 2200. Our settled weather is one of the main reasons the region is so well known for producing great wine and food, and it generally makes for great event weather also!

Connectivity

Although we love being in our little corner of the world, getting to Hawke’s Bay is actually a relatively straightforward exercise. Hawke’s Bay Airport is well serviced by daily direct Air New Zealand flights from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Origin Air has recently commenced services to Hawke's Bay from Nelson, Hamilton and Palmerston North.

By car, it is approximately four hours up the Classic New Zealand Wine Trail from Wellington, or approximately five hours from Auckland via the Thermal Explorer Highway where you can also take in the magic of Lake Taupo.

So much to see, do and taste!

Hawke’s Bay is officially a dining hotspot, with everything from causal fine to fine dining and winery restaurants. Everyone knows the region is spoilt for choice with winery cellar doors (more than 30, in case you were wondering), but did you know there’s more than 200km of flat, smooth cycle trails connecting wineries and cafes with rivers and the cities? Our Art Deco architecture is world-renowned, as is the world’s largest mainland gannet colony at Cape Kidnappers. Throw in golfbeachesstunning walks, a growing range of family attractions, and rocket launches at Mahia Peninsula, and Hawke’s Bay makes for a compelling pre or post-event vacation.
